Transport and logistics company Waberer´s has resolved on 03.04.2023 one of the ongoing truck cartel cases through an out-of-court settlement with one of the HGV manufacturers involved. The company had initiated a compensation procedure at the Munich court in 2016 and the case had been ongoing for over 7 years.
- The lawsuit was part of the truck cartel scandal that occurred between 1998 and 2011, with the European Commission imposing fines in 2016 of nearly three billion euros on Daimler, Iveco, DAF, and Volvo/Renault for engaging in price agreements.
- The settlement amount and the name of the manufacturer involved were not disclosed by Waberer´s.
- However, the company announced that the concerned truck manufacturer is released from the lawsuit, and Waberer’s claim shall be reduced to 26.6 million EUR (plus interests) compared to the previously communicated claim amount, which was 36.4 million without interest.
- Legal proceedings against other truck manufacturers involved in the case will continue.
